In our U.S. Top 50 charts, there are rarely more than one or two channels with more than 500 million weekly views. In our latest American ranking, 500 million views was the gap between first place and fifth.

Here are some takeaways from the 16 long-form channels and 34 short-form hubs that cracked the U.S. Top 50:

Chart Toppers

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes had an incredible week on YouTube, even by its own lofty standards. The California-based animation producer surpassed 150 billion lifetime views while also taking first place in both the global and American editions of our weekly charts. Cocomelon’s seven-day tally of 786.2 million weekly views would be an astonishing sum for anyone else, but for a channel that once earned one billion views per week, that total is just another day at the office.

Kids Diana Show finished in a respectable second place behind Cocomelon. The kidfluencer channel, which produces some of its videos out of a home in Florida, collected 497.8 million weekly views. That was good for a week-over-week traffic bump of 66%. If Kids Diana Show is able to keep up its current pace, it could become the second U.S.-based channel to reach 100 billion lifetime views on YouTube.

Third place in the latest U.S. Top 50 went to Mr DegrEE. The YouTube Shorts hub has had one of the biggest breakouts of 2023 so far, and that success has now continued into February. Over seven days around the start of the second month, Mr DegrEE’s collection of vertical videos picked up 420.4 million weekly views. The channel could cross ten million subscribers as soon as next week.

Speaking of YouTube Shorts, MrBeast ranked fourth in the most recent U.S. Top 50. The channel owned and operated by Jimmy Donaldson is more known for highly-produced long-form videos than short-form quick hitters, but MrBeast’s adoption of YouTube Shorts has pushed him up our all-American ranking. By raking in 307.4 million weekly views, the North Carolina-based creator was able to go up 18% week-over-week while moving from eighth place to fourth.

Alan Chikin Chow rounds out this week’s U.S. top five. The YouTube Shorts star moved up five spots after snagging 286.1 million weekly views and lifting his traffic by 22% week-over-week.

Top Gainers

Virtual reality has a lot of potential uses. Some people step into VR worlds to play games, while others choose to hang with friends outside of the meatspace. But based on the success of the FSRiko channel, there’s one use case for VR that clearly trumps all others: Dank memes.

On his TikTok page, FSRiko describes himself as a “VRChat dancer and memer.” To crack his jokes, he inhabits a lot of virtual worlds, but he seems particularly drawn to the copypasta environment known as The Backrooms. In FSRiko’s version of The Backrooms, you might encounter weird stairs, Slenderman, or a strange, tattooed version of Kermit the Frog who must be seen to be believed. (You can also find Kermit in Five Nights at Freddy’s and Minecraft.)

In an end-of-year video, FSRiko said that 2022 was the best year his channel has ever had. So far, it looks like 2023 could take that crown. The meme-filled channel ranked 40th in our U.S. Top 50 after collecting 122.7 million weekly views during the first week of February. That seven-day total accounts for about 20% of FSRiko’s lifetime YouTube viewership, and his channel is set to cross one million subscribers next week.

It seems that nothing can stop FSRiko on his path to the top of the U.S. Top 50. I only hope that he avoids slipping into The Backrooms, because his favorite Kermit meme is one mean-looking frog.
